Simon Harrison Motorsport Photography specialises in high quality images of racing cars and motorcycles.

The photographs and images featured in the website were all taken at UK circuits and cover all aspects of motorsport from circuit racing to hill climbing. My images have appeared in official programmes for events ran by the BARC and Yorkshire Dales Autograss Clubs. I am also a regular contributor to the motorsport section of the Teesside Evening Gazette and Haynet Publishing who produce Autosport Magazine and Motorsport News..

I have always been interested in all forms of motorsport, but I started getting actively involved shortly after leaving university. A work colleague was a regular rallycross competitor, and I started servicing for him. By that I mean cleaning the mud off the car in between races and re-filling his windscreen wash bottle! Around this time, I also bought my first camera - a Minolta Dynax 505si and started spending more and more time taking photographs. I still have this camera, but it rarely gets used these days.

My early pictures were pretty poor, and I found the cost of film and processing very prohibitive. Then along came digital. I started with a 3 megapixel Toshiba camera, but quickly moved on to a Fuji Finepix 6900Z. This was a fantastic camera, and the instant feedback and freedom from film and development costs allowed me experiment with different camera settings and practice to my hearts content. I soon found that I had reached the limits of that camera and took the big step into the world of digital SLR's.

All of my photographs are now taken with a Canon digital SLR cameras. These produce very high quality images, which can produce prints up to 20" X 30" in size. The equipment that I currently use consists of :-

I now tend to shoot almost exclusively in RAW format, and 'develop' the digital negatives using RawShooter Professional and Adope Photoshop software. This ensures images of the highest possible quality.
